We will be sailing tomorrow morning at 5am aboard the Lady Frances. The office will be open at 4am for ticket and tackle sales.
Captain Matt reported a slower day on the cod grounds. The weather was more then expected which made for a total anchor day. Once the anchor was set the fish could come but the bite would die shortly after. Captain Rich would move the boat and pick a few here and there. Not the bit we have been seeing. Tomorrows weather forecast looks much nicer and we will be sailing at 6am. The office will be open at 5am for all ticket and tackle sales.
Capt and crew from the Gail Frances reported a good day of fishing. A bit cold today but that didn’t stop the nice bunch of anglers that showed up to drop their lines in the water. It was all about the cod today. High hook was 7 fish and the biggest was around 7 lbs. Just about everyone went home with some nice fillets for a dinner or two. There was alot of throwback action as well, so anglers were kept busy at the rails for the whole day. The Gail Frances will be sailing tomorrow at 6:00 a.m., with the office opening at 5:00 a.m. There will be plenty of room, so if you have not yet called and made a reservation and are interested in going, just grab your gear and head to the boat in the morning.
The Gail Frances is out today with a modest group of anglers. We will have a full update on the fishing after 4:00 p.m. today. The boats are planning on sailing tomorrow, Saturday December 28th. Please call the office to make reservations.
To reiterate the upcoming schedule. We are scheduled to sail 12/28, 12/29 & 12/30 (weather permitting) from 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. BEGINNING January 1st, we begin sailing at 5:00 a.m. and we will sail DAILY weather permitting. Our website is currently under construction, so right now you cant make reservations online, but just give the office a call and we will gladly take your information over the phone.
We hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas. We thank everyone for sailing with us in 2013 and looking forward to having you on board in 2014.
Happy New Year.
Captain Matt reported another good day of local codfishing. More and more fish showing up everyday. Both jigs and bait worked well with bait catching more. We do encourage angler to try jigging more with more bait in the water. High hook was very close to a limit with most have a good hand full. Some nice ling in the mix as well. Our next planned sailing day will be friday at 6am.
The Frances Fleet would like to wish every one a very Merry Christmas
Captain Matt called in and reported a word for word carbon copy of yesterdays fishing. A few more fish coming up on jigs but it was mostly a bait bite. A few anglers had 4 keepers each and everyone went home with a handful of fish. Mark Capalbo won the pool with a fine market cod. A few sea bass and ling rounded out the days catch. We did not sail on sunday due to the winds but we are planning on sailing on monday morning. Please call the office to make a reservation.
Captain Matt called in to report a good day of local codfishing. It was great to finally get back out on the water after nearly 2 weeks of gale warnings. The fishing was good right from the start with cod coming up on both bait and jigs. The wind started picking up and captain Rich anchored up and the fish kept coming in. The afternoon was slower with the wind. High hook had 5 keepers with most going home with a handful. Biggest fish today was around 10 pounds. We will be sailing tomorrow morning at 6am on the Gail Frances. The office will be open at 5am for ticket and tackle sales.
The Gail Frances is out today with a small group of anglers, enjoying the above average temps. The boats have not been out in quite some time due to the cold and windy weather conditions over the past couple of weeks. So hopefully Capt. Richie will find some cod and maybe even some seabass today. We will have a full report when they get back at 4:00. Tomorrow looks like another above temp day, so give the office a call to make a reservation for tomorrow’s trip.
Just an update. The boats have not sailed since December 8th due to the weather. The frigid temps and the strong winds have kept the boats tied to the dock the last 10 days. We are encouraged by the weather coming up for Friday and Saturday. There is some wind forecasted which will allow the temps to go up into the 40′s. But not enough to keep us at the dock. At least that’s how it looks right now. Just be sure to call the office the day before to confirm the weather and to leave us your name, phone number and the number of people in your party.
A reminder, that if you are looking to purchase a gift certificate for the fisherman in your family, you can purchase them on our website or you can give us a call and we can do it over the phone. Although over the phone will most likely not get to you on time. The website is very easy to use and you will be emailed your gift certificate immediately.
There will be no trips tomorrow, Friday December 13th.
