Captain Mike reported another decent day on the cod grounds. The weather has finally broke and we can get a few days in a row in to really dial in on the fish. Today was similar to yesterday but better. More pollack and ling mixed in with the codfish. Pool fish was around 10 pounds. High hook had 5 keeper cod. Both jigs and bait worked today. The weather looks good for the next few days and we will be sailing at 5am. The office will be open at 4am for ticket and tackle sales.

Thursday January 30

We finally had a day with little wind and temps that were not unbearable, so the Lady Frances went codfishing for the first time in quite a few days. Capt Mike called in to say his small group of anglers today caught a respectable amount of cod. Nothing big, pool was around 10lbs or so, but some nice cod for everyone to take home.High hook had about 5 keepers. It looks like the break in the weather will continue for the next few days, so as of right now we plan on sailing Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 5:00 a.m.. Be sure to call the office with your reservation or for your convenience your reservation can also be done online at Francesfleet.com

Friday January 24

The boats have been tied to the dock for the entire week. The weather conditions have certainly not been on our side. Its been frigid temps and high winds all week. The weekend looks to be about the same. No sail tomorrow, Saturday January 25th. You can give us a call as far as Sunday and Monday go, although it doesn’t look good right now. We may catch a break sometime early next week, as the temps seem to be going up a little and the winds dropping out. Stay warm and hope to see you soon.

Captain Mike reported a great weather day but a slow fishing day. There was codfish at every drop as soon as the bite started it would end. Mixed bag fishing of cod, pollock, ling and ocean perch. The water seemed to still be dirty from the swell and it is improving everyday. The Lady Frances will be setting sail tomorrow morning at 5am.

Captain Matt reported a slower day on the cod grounds. Dirty water and a left over swell made for less then ideal cod conditions. Some green cod did come up but not what we were hoping for. A nice showing of some baseball bat ling did help out todays catch. There is no trip tomorrow but the weather looks good for Wednesday.

Captain Mike called in and reported a slower day on the cod grounds. The mornings pick was slower then it has been. The bite seemed to pick up in the afternoon and Mike is putting in some extra hours on the cod.Pool fish today was around 15 pounds. The keeper action was slower but the overall cod bite was good with quite a few shorts coming over the rail. There will be no trip tomorrow due to gale force winds. We are watching the weather for Sunday. Please call the office to make a reservation for any future cod trip.

Captain Matt called in to report another good day on the cod grounds. Lots of the same action on nice green fish coming over the rail and to the gaff. Lots of short fish keeping anglers busy all day as well. Nothing huge for the pool but some nice fish in the low teens battled it out. Both jigs and bait worked well today and the office is stock with plenty of hammered diamond jigs.We are planning on sailing Friday and Saturday at 5am for codfish. The office will be open at 4am for all ticket and tackle sales.
