Monday April 28th

Unfortunately another weekend of being tied to the dock and another week of questionable Spring weather. The good news is that we have heard some local reports of fishermen catching fluke in the area. Recreational fluke opens May 1st in Rhode Island and we will be making our first trip of the season on Saturday May 3rd aboard the Lady Frances. Be sure to give the office a call to make a reservation. Let’s hope that its a great fluke season and the weather finally gives us a break!

There are still plenty of open dates for charters if anyone is thinking of that for a bachelor party, company outing or just getting together with friends. Whether its a full day or half day, we can help make your day a success.

Thursday April 24th

The wind just doesn’t want to stop blowing this week. Gale warnings up through tonight. And although the winds drop out for tomorrow, the water has gotten quite a churning this week. After much deliberation we are cancelling tomorrow’s cod trip. Our captain and crew were ready to go but the conditions for fishing would still not be very favorable for tomorrow. We appreciate the folks that were interested in going and please keep us in mind for future trips.

Fluke opens in RI on May 1st. As of right now, and this really depends on local reports, we are scheduled to start Saturday May 3rd.

Friday April 18th

Captain Matt called in to say that Cod fishing was better today. The LADY FRANCES sailed with a very light crew today. They had a few more keepers and shorts in the mix today. The fish were nice green fish so it looks like a new batch of fish maybe moving in. The water has warmed up a little and is much clearer than it has been. The LADY FRANCES will be sailing for cod tomorrow morning at 7 am. We will not be sailing on Easter Sunday

Thursday April 17

The Lady Frances is scheduled to set sail tomorrow morning, Friday April 18th at 7:00 a.m. Both Friday and Saturday look like a go. We finally are getting a break with the high winds we have had all week. The last trip out was slow, but tomorrow is another day. Reminder, that we do not sail on Easter Sunday.

4/15

Captain Rich sailed this past sunday and saw a very slow trip. The fish that were caught earlier in the week had moved on. The water temperatures are on the rise and more bait is showing up. The water was still very dirty from the ground swell. The weather this week looks like we will be tied to the dock till at least Friday. Please call the office to make a reservation on any upcoming trips.

Friday April 11th update

The cod trip for tomorrow, Saturday April 12th is cancelled. But the Lady Frances is all ready to set sail on SUNDAY morning at 7:00 a.m. The weather looks beautiful. Give the office a call to make a reservation. We have had some encouraging reports within the last couple days, so grab your gear and come on down. The office will open at 6:00 a.m for ticket sales. Hope to see you then!

4/10

The weather for the weekend looks good and we are planning on sailing both Saturday and Sunday for codfish. We have not been out lately but there are reports of a body of fish showing up south of Block Island. We are very eager to get out and find out whats out there.

4/6

Captain Rich was at the helm this past weekend for the local cod trip. The weather was nice and the water was clearing but water temps were freezing. Captain Rich thinks this was the issue for lack of fish coming up. Rich pulled out the little black book but could not get the fish to bite. We are still planning on sailing weather permitting every day except Tuesday and Thursday. Please call the office and make a reservation for any upcoming trip.

Tuesday April 1st.

The Lady Frances is sailing tomorrow, Wednesday April 2nd. at 7:00 a.m. It looks like a beautiful day to be on the water. Grab your gear and head on down! The office will be open at 6:00 a.m. for ticket sales. FYI Our website currently says that the boat sails at 6:00 a.,m. but it is actually 7:00 a.m. We will get that corrected ASAP.
