Thursday December 31st

Captain Mike reported another good day on the cod boat. A little slower then yesterday but much less people. Many people had limits of codfish with other only being a small hand full off. Pool fish was around 15 pounds. Many shorts in the mix to keep rods bent. Jigs and bait both worked well today. Tomorrow we will be sailing at 5am for Codfish aboard the Lady Frances. The office will be open before 4am for all ticket and tackle sales. The Frances Fleet would like to wish everyone a Happy New Year. May it be be full of bent rods and full coolers.

Wednesday December 30th

Captain Mike reported another solid day on the local cod boat. A large group of angler were treated to a nice December day with cod coming over the rails. Limit catches around the boat with many guys leaving with 7-8 and some with less. Pool fish was in the low teens with a few nice “gaffers” in the mix. A few last minute sea bass in the mix as well. 1 weakfish also hit the decks of the Lady Frances. We will be sailing tomorrow at 5am on the Lady Frances. Please call the office to make a reservation for any upcoming trip.

Captain Matt was at the helm of the Gail Frances with the Powell Group and reported very similar fishing. Many green cod coming over the rails with everyone going home with a nice bag of fish.

Monday December 28th

Capt and crew on the Lady Frances reported another excellent day of codfishing. In fact, customers easily had their limit of cod and were back at the dock 1 1/2 hours early. Many enjoyed some catch and release action while waiting for all customers to reach their limit. Pool fish was around the 12 lb mark. A handful of seabass and scup mixed in as well. No trip tomorrow due to weather conditions, but after Tuesday it looks like we will have quite a few good days in a row. We are now sailing daily, weather permitting, at 5:00 a.m. Always be sure to call the office the day before to confirm weather conditions and to leave your name, phone number and the number of people in your party. Thus far, this has been a codfish season to remember!

Sunday December 27th

Captain Mike reported a good day on the cod grounds. The weather was less then idle which made for tough drift conditions, but those who stuck it out at the rail were rewarded. High hooks went home with limits of cod fish. Limits were taken on both jigs and bait. some anglers had 4-6 where other had less . Lots of shorts in the mix as well kept rods bent all day. Tomorrow is another day and we will be sailing at 5am for cod fish. Starting tomorrow we will be sailing daily weather permitting for cod fish at 5am. Please call the office and make a reservation or to check on weather for any upcoming trip.

Saturday December 26th

Captain Mike reported a good day of cod fishing for a healthy turn out of anglers. Everyone was itching to try out all there new Christmas toys on some brown bombers. The weather is the morning was rather sloppy but it got nicer as the day went on. We were able to drift all day long and produces 20-50 keepers a drift. Many angler went home with limits of fish to 18 pounds with some within a small handful. Some anglers did not fair as well but there was always a bent rod on the boat. Captain Mike will be sailing tomorrow at 5am on the Lady Frances.

Wednesday December 23rd

Captain Mike was at the helm of the local cod trip and reported a great day of fishing. We had our first 5am trip of the year and many anglers wanted to get some Christmas cod. The cod were waiting with open mouths after the weather from the past weekend. Many limits around the boat with long time regular Mr. Pak putting on a show. A few nicer fish in the low tens with a good 18lb pool fish. Both jogs and bait produced  limit catches. Some anglers did not fair as well but everyone is going home with bags of fish. We will not be sailing tomorrow or Friday because of Christmas, But the weather looks great for the weekend. Please call and make a reservation for all upcoming trips.

Monday December 21st.

Our next trip is scheduled for Wednesday December 23rd. We are changing our sailing time a little earlier than we anticipated. We will now be sailing at 5:00 A.M. Please call the office on Tuesday to make your reservation.

Sunday December 19th

We will not be sailing on Sunday or monday due to the weather.

Our next trip is slated for Wednesday at 5am!!

PLEASE be on the look out for a possible sailing time change coming for Wednesday December 23 for the rest of our cod season.

Friday December 18th

Captain Matt reported a very good day on the local cod boat. The rain didnt seem to scare the people away.  Many limits around the boat with many with in a few of a limit as well. Many larger fish in mix today with 20 fish in the teens and todays pool winner was a solid 25 pounder. Bait was the way to go today. Tomorrow cod trip is cancelled due to gale force winds but we are keeping an eye on Sunday and Monday. Please call the office to double check future weather conditions.

Wednesday December 16th

Capt Richie reported a good day of fishing on the Gail Frances. Although no one got their limit of cod a majority of anglers had between 3 to 6 fish a piece in the coolers at the end of the day. A nice bunch of seabass in the mix as well. No trip tomorrow because it’s Thursday, but Friday’s trip is a go. Just be sure to give the office a call to leave a reservation.
