Captain Mike reported a decent day of fishing on the morning half day trip, which slowed down a bit on the afternoon trip. Both trips were able to boast some nice fluke up to 5 lbs on the morning trip, and in the 4lb range for the afternoon. This morning’s pool winner was Brian Butler from Gaylordsville in CT, whose fluke weighed in at around 5 lbs. The morning trip also had a good number of black sea bass, while the afternoon sea bass action was not as hot. However, the captain said that many of the sea bass on both trips were of nice quality.
According to Captain Matt, the full day boat had another good day of fishing aboard the Gail Frances. The boat just about caught its limit for black seabass, and also had five or six anglers who caught their limit of nice fluke. Many anglers were able to head home with 4 or 5 fluke to add to the sea bass in their coolers. The pool-winning fluke was a respectable 9 lbs, pulling ahead of half a dozen or so nice fluke that were over 6 lbs.
Tomorrow, the Gail Frances will set sail at 7AM for the full day Jumbo Fluke & Sea Bass trip, and the Half Day trips will sail at 8AM and 1PM. The forecast looks great, and there’s hardly a better way to escape July’s heat than to spend a day out on the water catching some fish!
