This morning’s half day trip celebrating The Blessing of the Fleet was a huge success and the fish cooperated too with a nice mix of fluke sea bass and some scup for a sold out crowd of half day enthusiasts! Some great photos above showcasing blessing and fishing high lights provided by owner Christine Blount.
Capt. George reported the full day charter on the Admiral Frances met with respectable catches of fluke and good size sea bass.
First mate Chris L reported a good day of fishing aboard the Gail Frances today with well over 100 nice fluke going into fishers bags and coolers. Pool winner was a fine 8 lb slab and there were a handful of other nice jumbo fish. A few limit catches and a decent number of folks who boxed several good fluke apiece. A lot of sea bass and plenty of good keepers but nothing of extraordinary size but limit catches of 15 inch plus sea bass make a nice compliment to the fluke catches! A few dozen nice size scup rounded out the the keeping portion of the fishery today. Great fishing weather on tap tomorrow and Capt. Rich will set sail at 7 am aboard the Gail Frances.
Yesterday’s full day fluke and sea bass trip produced pretty good results and so far today is off to a good start also! A few pictures from yesterday below and a bunch from longtime customer Ginny Reed and Michael Song from today above.
Capt. Matt reported a much slower night last night with the Stripers than the prior two nights but the anglers aboard did manage a few handfuls of nice keeper bass with the largest around or just under the 20 lb mark. Tonight is a new night and still plenty of room so if anyone is interested in purchasing tickets please call the office to make a reservation.
As mentioned on Facebook yesterday we are currently booking for a SUMMER COD FISH TRIP SUNDAY AUGUST 21ST FROM 5AM TO 4PM. The cost is $125. Bait is included and rod rental is $10. The fishing this past summer, like the past several summers has been excellent. This is a limited load trip which will take no more than 45 fishers. The Capt. Tackle has been briskly selling clams to cod fishers who have reported back with outstanding results, of which more than a few have included not only steaker size fish but even a few “old fashioned” hangers up to 40 lbs! I have been out a few times recently with my good friends Steve and Capt. Dan and echo the same sentiment although nothing over 20 lbs for us, yet. We have sampled areas from close to Block Island to the “broken radio” grounds of Coxes Ledge and in between finding cooperative cod all along the way. Some very large ocean perch and a few big ling have been mixed in as well. Best of all, the unmentionables have been hardly worth a mention! This trip mandates a reservation and as of this time it must be booked with an office representative over the phone.
