Capt. Matt reported a good day of tog fishing. There were at least several limit catches and some others who were dangerously close. No super hogs today but an 8 lb pool fish deserves respect especially when there are numerous fish only ounces behind it. A lot of quality fish over 5 lbs today. Just a few keeper sea bass late in the day and no cod fish. Plenty of short tog kept fishers very busy today. Next tatoug outing is set to sail tomorrow morning at 6 am with Capt. Mike aboard the Lady Frances.
Roger reported a gorgeous day on the water and improved numbers of cod fish over yesterday. Longtime regular Mike Kwok from NJ was hi hook with four good keepers and several other fishers boxed three keepers apiece. In fact the vast majority of fishers went home with a cod fish or two today with only a few exceptions. Some short cod as well. Big fish honors went to longtime customer Big George from Providence RI who brought to the safety of a sharp gaff a fine green cod fish of around 15 lbs, well done Big George!! There were a couple other nice size cod in the lower teens as well and a few reportedly thought to be bigger ones that won the battle of man vs cod fish. A couple of the bigger cod fell to jigs as well but the vast majority and biggest were on fresh shucked sea clams. Sea Bass did not disappoint either with nearly a full boat limit of big sea bass up to at least 5 lbs today. In fact a pretty formidable number of sea bass at or over 4 lbs. Plenty of scup today but sizes were very mixed. Some platter size stuff though among the lot though. A decent shot of good size ocean perch and one fair size sea flounder, a keeper pollock and only two of the unmentionables all day rounds out the species assortment for the day. Capt. Rich will be ready to set sail on the Gail Frances tomorrow morning at 6 am for cod and sea bass. Pictures today courtesy of Roger.
