Owner Capt. Frank Blount and General Manager Capt. Cory Blount would like to let all of the Tuna fishers, who are booked on the first trip of the season, that they are both closely monitoring the weather for the upcoming trip. A decision regarding a trip that sails Tuesday Night weather permitting would likely not be made until at the earliest sometime Tuesday late morning or early afternoon. We ask that fishers do not call and inquire about the weather before Monday evening.
The report from Capt. Matt for last night was of very slow bass fishing. The swings in this fishery are just epic. We try one last time for the season this evening. Capt. Matt will leave at 7 pm aboard the Lady Frances.
The Gail Frances found a mixed bag of nice fluke to 6 lbs, some nice sea bass and a nice shot of big mackerel once again. A few scup thrown in for good measure as well. Congrats to longtime regular customer and exceptional rod handler James on the pool and the easy limit of nice size fluke he and his friend boxed today on the Gail. Fishers. There were also a couple of other limit catches. However the fluke were not all that spread out among the fishers, a case again of the haves and have nots. The fishers on the Gail also saw Whales once again today! Capt. Rich will set sail tomorrow morning at 7 am aboard the Gail Frances for sea bass/fluke.
The morning half day was solid on the sea bass and a few more fluke than usual made it over the rail. The afternoon trip by contrast was poor although longtime regular customer Anthony and Anthony Jr did just fine but in general fishing was very tough due to little to no drift. Two half days on tap tomorrow with the first to set sail at 8 am and the second at 1 pm both aboard the Lady Frances.
