First mate Greg reported last night’s squid trip was slower than the night before but not as slow as Thursday Night. The squid were spread out a bit more than usual with just about everyone grabbing a bunch and the sharpies doing upwards to 30-40 pieces. Bob from CT was pleased with his haul of over 100 squid for the past two nights aboard the Gail Frances! Similar but slightly slower results on last night’s RISA charter aboard the Lady Frances. In lieu of the Monday Holiday we sail this evening at 7pm aboard the Gail Frances with Capt. Ray. The squid trip is a go and there is plenty of room so call the office or just come on down to go on tonight’s trip!
First mate Greg reported an okay morning half day despite some challenging drifting conditions. A couple handfuls of keepers and some shorts and that was about it. Picture provided courtesy of longtime regular customer Ginny Reed. The afternoon trip was a touch slower with less keepers and some shorts. Two trips tomorrow in celebration of Memorial Day with the first set to sail aboard the Lady Frances at 8am and the second set to sail at 1pm also aboard the Lady Frances. Back to back trips can net an angler a $15 discount off of the second outing.
A much better day of fluke fishing aboard the Gail Frances today. The fish were not nearly as spread out among the healthy group of fluke enthusiasts as we would have hoped for but the overall numbers were much better. Breezy conditions made the drift very fast at times today and the best bite of the day was in the morning. Dustin Luginbuhl from Ellington CT (#Ellingtonboys) took the pool with a fine 10.7 lb slab weighed on the official certified scale here at Capt. Tackle. This fish was likely 11 lbs or a shade more right out of the water as it was caught earlier in the trip and had been on ice for awhile. Capt.Matty reported a few other jumbos in the 5-6 lb range with the rest of the keepers nice size fish in the 2-3lb range. A couple anglers tied for hi hook honors of 5 apiece with an unconfirmed possible hi hook score of 7 keepers. Some other anglers also had 3-4 keepers each. A modest amount of throwbacks as well. Tomorrow Capt. Rich will set sail at 7am aboard the Gail Frances, looks like a little less breeze tomorrow which is a good thing! Photo courtesy Roger.
