The report from first mate Greg on last night’s combo/squid trip was that they had a little bit of everything so to speak on the available bottom fish and a decent amount of squid. A few fluke, a few sea bass, a few scup, a few sand sharks, one blue fish in the fin fish department. Greg said the squid were “everywhere” and an angler who stayed at the rail and fished hard for them could easily do 50 pieces. Even a few double headers on the same jig!! First mate Greg was kind enough to provide us with some pictures showcasing a few hi lights from last evening’s outing. Next set of combo trips are set for next Friday and Saturday Nights at 7pm by reservation.
Capt. Matt was out on a private night time fishing charter last night that had a nice bunch of blue fish to ten pounds, one 25 lb bass, and a handful of keeper sea bass plus some sand sharks.
Sounds like an okay day overall on the Gail Frances but there was not much of a drift which today meant there were the haves and have nots. Sounds like buck tail rigs reigned supreme overall and only for some fishers. As Capt. Ted says the buck tails can work but one has to work the buck tails! Numbers per fisher varied considerably as mentioned above with hi hook boxing seven nice keepers and a handful of other fishers boxing several nice fluke apiece. Biggest fish was around seven pounds. Boat limit of sea bass to five pounds. A couple scup and once again no blue fish. A couple nice size ocean perch and that rounded out the species assortment. Capt. Rich will set sail at 7 am aboard the Gail Frances.
A few fluke and some sea bass this morning along with lots of shorts. Two half days on tap tomorrow with the first to set sail at 8am and the second to set sail at 1pm, both aboard the Lady Frances. Back to back half days can net an angler a $15 discount off the second trip.
